No black friday. Here's why.
The case against Black Friday

The case against Black Friday

Made to last, not for landfill

In a world of flash sales, blinking red tags, and one-day-only markdowns, Black Friday will be just another Friday at Son of a Tailor. And that’s the point.

As every year, our Copenhagen store and webshop will remain open, our production will keep running, and our team will be there to assist you, just as on a regular Friday.

Why we don’t do Black Friday

We’ve spoken out about Black Friday habits since 2019 – and our stance hasn’t changed. We don’t believe in rushing purchases or encouraging wardrobes filled with things you don’t truly need. The pressure to buy for the sake of a sale can lead to overconsumption, waste, and the production of products that will regrettably end up in landfill. That’s not the world we want to contribute to.

“We make what’s needed, when it’s needed.”

Most Black Friday sales models rely on producing more than anyone truly needs, only to discount it later. In our sector alone, the fashion industry overproduces. overproduces by an estimated 30-40% each year (Business of Fashion), and more than 92 million tons of textile waste ends up in landfills annually (United Nations). That's not black - it's bleak.

We take a different approach: we make what’s needed, when it’s needed. Made to order, made for you and made to last. That means fewer forgotten garments in warehouses, and more pieces worn and loved for years.

A year-round alternative

With our bundle pricing, you can save up to 20% when ordering multiple items – not just today, but year-round. This lets you build your wardrobe gradually and responsibly, while helping us minimize cutting waste and optimize production logistics.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. For choosing durability over hype, precision over panic, and timeless quality over short-lived trends.
